Entering his third season as a Purdue assistant cross country and track and field coach, Darrin Wilcoxson now focuses his energies solely on the men's distance roster.

In 2005, Wilcoxson coached All-Big Ten runner David Rae, Purdue's first men's all-conference harrier since 2001.

Before Purdue, Wilcoxson was an assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University from 2000 to 2004. During his tenure, the Lady Colonels cross country team won two conference championships and finished second twice. The men were runners-up four years in a row.

A 1994 graduate of Purdue, Wilcoxson was a four-year letterwinner, qualifying for the USAT&F championships in 1993 and 1994. He also earned 12th-place honors at the indoor NCAA Championships in 1993 and finished 19th at the outdoor NCAA Championships the same year.

Wilcoxson and his wife, Alice, an athletic trainer at Purdue, reside in West Lafayette, Ind.
