Purdue improved its Academic All-Big Ten total by 18 student-athletes from merely a year ago.
The Purdue cross country teams will send 32 individuals to Friday's Crusader Open.
2012: Competing in 3 races over the course of the season; at the season kickoff meet on 8/31, the Crusader Open, she finished 24th with a time of 19:38.5; competing in the Indiana Intercollegiates she ran a 20:02.7 while placing 16th in the opens race; at the Sean Earl Loyola Invite in Chicago, Ill. She placed 148th with a time of 19:27.
2011 (ran for IUPUI):Ran in five of the team's six meets... opened the year as the Jaguars' No. 5 runner at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge on Sept. 3, finishing that race in a time of 20:55.3... ran a personal record 5K time of 20:05 at the Indiana Intercollegiates Meet in Bloomington, Ind. on Sept. 16... missed the Sept. 30 Notre Dame Invitational due to injury... finished her rookie year with a personal record 6K time of 24:12.2 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet in Toledo, Ohio on Nov. 12... Academic All-Summit League Distinguished Scholar honoree... named to IUPUI's Academic Advisor's Listboth semesters.
High School: Four-year letterwinner in track and cross country; also played basketball as a freshman; earned all-sectional, all-regional, and all-conference as a junior and senior; cross country team finished third in the state her senior year; team was sectional and regional champs as well as Hoosier Conference Champs that year.
Personal: Taylor Courtney Jones was born May 22, 1993 to parents Steve and Donna Jones; has two brothers, Nick and Dallin, and one sister, Heather; brother Nick attends Purdue; father was a diver at the University of Illinois; undecided on her intended major; was born in San Diego; enjoys running and reading.
