Prior to Purdue: Named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year for women's cross country after placing fourth at SLC Championships to earn all-conference honors at Lamar University; placed ninth in the 3,000 meters at the SLC Indoor Track Championships; transferred to Purdue in fall 2012.

High School: Represented Canada in the 2010 World Junior Cross Country Championships; participated in the 2009 Canada Summer Games; placed ninth at 2009 Canadian Cross Country Championships; four year track and cross country letterwinner; earned MVP award for track and field as a freshman; named Athlete of the Year for her final three years in prep school.

Personal: Samantha Lynn Walkow was born Oct. 7, 1991, in Comox, British Columba; daughter of Daniel and Gabriele Walkow; has two brothers, Joesph and Hunter, and one sister, Danielle; majoring in psychology; enjoys reading, yoga, and movies.
