Hoevet, McClintock receive Big Ten Medal of Honor
Finalists for 11 awards have been selected
Three individuals and both teams were honored for their GPAs
The duo wrapped up a historic Purdue cross country season
2013:Competed in six season meets and finished first at the Big Ten Preview with a time of 24:41.8; Finished second at both Indiana Intercollegiate and the B1G Championships with times of 25:04.88 and 24:17.9; Placed second at the Great Lakes Regionals with a time of 30:06.81; became Purdue's first All-American since 1987 after finishing 37th at the NCAA Championships with a time of 30:44.2.
2012: McClintock was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year after finishing eighth at his first conference championships; Was named the men's Big Ten Runner of the Week twice, first after the Indiana Intercollegiates and the second after the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago; Competed in seven races on the season; Finished firstin two races; one coming at the Crusader Open with a 6k time of 18:54.3; the other at the Sean Earl Loyola Invite with a 8k time of 24:32; His best time came at the Big Ten Championships, finishing eighthwith a time of 24:03.7; ran a fourth place time of 24:58.9 at the Indiana Intercollegiates; at the Adidas Invite, he ran a 24:12 and finished 77th; raced in the Great Lakes Regional 10k and finished eighthwith a time of 30.57; competed in the NCAA Championships and finished 103rd with a 10k time of 30:45.1.
High School: Four-year letterwinner in track and cross country; First Team All-Conference all four years in cross country; Second Team All-Conference in the 1600m and 3200m as a freshman; won the Class C State Championship in cross country his sophomore, junior, and senior years; First Team All-Conference in the 1600m and 3200m for track his final three high school seasons; Mountain Valley Conference 1600m and 3200m Champion as a sophomore; First Team All-State in cross country as a junior; Maine Festival of Champions Champion in cross country as a junior; Class C State Champion in the 1600m and 3200m for track as a junior and senior; named the Gatorade Runner of the Year as a junior and senior; named a Foot Locker Third Team All-American as a senior; set the state meet record in the 1600m with a time of 4:16 and the 3200m record with a time of 9:16; New England Champion in the 3200m as a senior; was the class Valedictorian.
Personal: Matthew Caleb McClintock was born Jan. 6, 1994 to parents Michael and Lisa McClintock; has one brother, Shawn, and two sisters, Stacie and Allie; plans to major in movement and sports sciences; wants to become a professional runner after graduation; enjoys running and playing guitar.
