Sarah Haveman (Klaczynski) is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Purdue Cross Country teams and second with the Track and Field teams, in charge of the women's distance group for the Boilermakers. Haveman competed for the Old Gold and Black in cross country and track and field from 2006 to 2010, earning a pair of varsity letters.
Haveman peaked in impressive fashion as a senior, qualifying for the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She made huge strides throughout the year, taking third place at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships at Indiana University, placing fifth at the NCAA Championship East Preliminary Rounds and breaking the Purdue record to qualify for finals at the national championship meet. Her time of 10:11.17 grabbed an automatic qualifying spot in the finals and was the 11th fastest in qualifying as she went on to place 12th in the championship heat.
A six-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and an Academic All-American, Haveman received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Purdue. She married former Purdue baseball standout Brandon Haveman in February 2011.
