Purdue sends 17 runners to the final race before championship season
The cross country team will send 12 individuals to Illinois for Friday's race.
The Purdue men's and women's teams saw vast improvement from the teams' finishes last season.
2014: Competed in three races ... season-best 8k time at the Indiana Intercollegiate open run where he ran a 27.02.6 ... ran the 5k at the Belmont Opener with a time of 15.58.6 taking 33rd ... competed in the 8k race finishing 34th with a time of 27.20.7.
2013: Competed in five races, including the Big Ten Championships and the Great Lakes Regional ... was just off his 8k PR at the Big Ten Championships where he ran a 25:58.6 to take 79th ... ran a 10k time of 32:22.0 at the Great Lakes Regionals ... finished 15th at the Pre-Nationals open race with a time of 25:44.49 ... finished 22nd at the Notre Dame Invite 8k.2013 Results
2012: Competed in five races during his freshman season; finished 17th in his only 6k of the season with a time of 20:36.3 at the Crusader Open; ran a season-best 8k time at the Sean Earl Loyola Invite with a 80th-place finish time of 26:30; ran a 26:30.7 at the Indiana Intercollegiates where he finished 54th; competed at the Big Ten Championships and ran a time of 25:58.3.2012 Season
High School: Four-year letterwinner in cross country and three in track; cross country team won conference all four years he was on the team; earned all-conference honors in track and cross country over final three prep seasons; won the Blackford invitational as a junior and senior and the West Noble Invite in his final season; finished eighth at the state meet in the mile as a senior; earned the Prep of the Year Award in his career.
Personal: Kevin Lynn Handshoe was born on March 8, 1993 to parents Gary and Karen Handshoe; has one brother, Kris, and one sister, Elisha; Elisha plays softball at Western Michigan University; plans to major in computer technology and information; enjoys drawing, running, and having fun.
