WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men’s and women’s track team utilized the weekend to take part in a bit of community service. The Boilermakers participated in the 2nd Annual Carry the Torch Walk.

The Torch Walk aims to raise money for local patients in their fight against cancer. All money that was raised from the event benefits Lafayette’s own Community Cancer Network. The center strives to help all Mid-Northern Indiana families receive professional and consistent support during all treatment and recovery. They work to help families and patients rest and recover as well as provide financial and emotional support as necessary.

The men’s and women’s teams participated by walking the 2.5 miles. The teams also stuck around afterwards to help clean up and tear down. For their efforts on the day, the Boilermaker track and field teams were honored with a Spirit Award.
