LONDON - Nedzad Mulabegovic finished t-18th in the shot put qualifications at the 2012 London Olympics on Friday morning. The top 20 finish is his best finish at any of his three Olympic games.

Mulabegovic, a 2005 Purdue track and field graduate, finished with a best throw of 19.86m (65-2). That distance is the Croatian’s best at any Olympic games. The top 12 individuals from the qualifiers advance to the finals. The United States’ Reese Hoffa had the best throw of the day as he threw 21.36m (70-1). Ryan Whiting and Christian Cantwell also made the finals for the U.S.

The shot put finals are scheduled to take place later today at 3:30 p.m. ET.
