Three Boilermakers To Compete At Junior Championships
Kaitlyn Brace was the top javelin throw for the Purdue women in the spring.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Three Boilermaker track and field student-athletes will be in action this weekend at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, Kaitlyn Brace, and Andy Mack will compete on Friday with Enekwechi also contending on Saturday.

Enekwechi will compete in the men’s hammer throw finals at 2 p.m. ET on Friday. The redshirt freshman has tremendous upside as seen when he competed unattached in the spring. At the Mike Poehlein Invitational in March, Enekwechi was the top finisher from Purdue with a throw of 58.75m (192-09). In his next meet, the Dave Rankin Invite, he won the event with a distance of 59.51m (193-05).

Brace will be the next to compete as she will be in the women’s javelin throw at 2:45 p.m. Brace was the team’s top javelin thrower during the spring. She qualified for the NCAA East Prelims where she finished 30th. Mack will be the final competitor for Purdue on the day. The redshirt freshman will run in the 5k at 7:50 p.m.

Enekwechi will also compete in the shot put on Saturday at 3 p.m. He was a youth national champion in the event as a senior in high school. A full start list for all action at the competition can be found here.
