WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue track and field team will host another home meet this weekend. The annual Purdue Open will be this Friday and Saturday at Rankin Track and Field.
Friday's action will be limited to the men's and women's hammer throw starting at 3 p.m. ET. Breann Fife will compete for the Purdue women. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with field events while track events will begin at 12:45 p.m.
The Boilermakers will be well represented in the pole vault as four women, led by Katie Vierk, and three men will compete, led by Mitch Erickson. Nikki Nunn leads the long jump field while Emily Becker and Kendria Kelly-Taylor will also compete. Four women will also compete for Purdue in the javelin. Kylie Hermanson leads that group. Ciana Tabb leads the 100m hurdles group.
On the men's side, Cale Allen paces the 5k group. He has the best seed time by over 30 seconds. Shane Mikesky will run in a competitive 110m hurdle field. He has the second best seed time behind Tyyon Neal. Mikesky will also run in the 100m dash.
