Track Hosts Dave Rankin Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue track and field team hosts its lone outdoor meet of the season this weekend with the Dave Rankin Invitational. The majority of Boilermakers will compete in that meet while a handful of distance runners are competing at the Mt. SAC Relays in Los Angeles. The Dave Rankin Invite is Friday and Saturday at the Rankin Outdoor Track and Field while the Mt. SAC Relays are Thursday through Saturday.

Who's Competing for Purdue
-Purdue will have 36 women and 36 men competing at the Dave Rankin Invite.
-The Boilermakers sent three women and four men to the Mt. SAC Relays.
-The Dave Rankin women's competitor list is highlighted by Dani Bunch (throws), Aarin Jones (400m, relays), Vanessa McLeod (800m, relays), and Ciana Tabb (hurdles).
-The men's list of competitors for the home meet is highlighted by Coy Blair (throws), Chukwuebuka Enekwechi (throws), Jakob Engel (throws), Eric Harris (sprints), Andrew Kendrick (400m, relays), and Brandon Winters (hurdles).
-Matthew McClintock, Kevin Griffith, Dan Porter, and Tyler Wynn are the men scheduled to travel to the Mt. SAC Relays.
-Kelly McCurdy, Katie Hoevet, and Blair Doney will make the trip for the women.

What Time and Where?
The Dave Rankin Invite begins at 3 p.m. ET on Friday with the women's hammer throw. The men's hammer will follow to round out the first day. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the women's javelin. The women's 3k steeplechase opens the track events and it begins at noon on the second day.

Alumni Weekend
Purdue has more than 30 track and field alums scheduled to be on hand at the weekend meet. The list includes a national champion, a national runner-up, Big Ten champions, All-Americans, school record holders, and several all-conference and academic award winners. The alums will be recognized on the track around noon on Saturday.

Student Appreciation Day
Saturday is student appreciation day at the meet. Students with VIP cards will receive free admittance and double points on their card.

Purdue's Last Time Out
The Boilermakers last competed at the Sea Ray Relays. Geoff Davis broke his PR and the school's second-best high jump mark as he cleared 2.24m (7-04.25). McLeod set the school record in the 800m race in Purdue history as she finished in 2:06.36.
