WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Cale Allen will represent the Purdue men's track and field team at the Mt. SAC Relays in Los Angeles. The junior distance runner will compete in the 10,000m run which is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. PT Thursday night.
Allen has had an excellent outdoor season thus far. At the Sun Angel Classic, he set a personal best by more than 45 seconds in the 5000m run with a time of 14:03.91. That time is the school's second fastest time in history and won the race by more than seven seconds.
Allen will travel with Purdue distance coach Jake Stewart. Stewart has been pleased with Allen's progress and determination throughout the season.
"Cale has been very consistent through the course of the last six or seven months since I've been here," Stewart said of the junior. "He's been training at a high level. He's had good workouts. He really hasn't had bad days. When you're able to continually train the way he has, you're going to see improvement without any real stretches. It just kind of naturally happens. Cale has just improved. He had a great indoor season, the best indoor season he's had since he's been on campus."
A live stream of the match is scheduled to be available through the FloTrack website. That link is available on the PurdueSports.com website or by clicking here. For the full interview, see the video below.
