  • WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue junior Nolan Petties captured Big Ten Men's Co-Field Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday, marking the third straight week a Boilermaker has earned conference weekly honors. Petties receives the award in the wake of a pair of career-best marks at the Spec Towns National Team Invitational, hosted by the University of Georgia over the weekend.

Petties placed second in the men's triple jump on Friday, bouncing 15.45 meters (50-08.25), and followed with a first-place leap of 7.59 meters (24-11.00) in the long jump on Saturday. Both are the top marks of Petties's career and the best in the Big Ten so far this season. His long jump mark is currently good for 22nd in the country, while his triple jump distance is 26th.

The list of Big Ten weekly honorees on the Purdue roster continues to grow as Petties is the sixth member of the Boilermakers' men's squad to secure athlete of the week recognition. Also garnering honors have been fellow junior Ben Harpenau, sophomore Jonathan Pullum and freshmen Shane Crawford, Josh Hembrough and Chris Thoman.

The Boilermakers look to keep their streak alive this weekend as they host the second-annual Dave Rankin Invitational.
