WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker track and field team heads to Louisville, Ky., for the Border Wars meet on Saturday. The four team meet pairs Purdue and Indiana against Notre Dame and Louisville in a scored battled with and against rivals.
The Boilermakers send some of their top student-athletes in program history to the meet, including Jake Waterman, Blair Doney, Ciana Tabb, Devynne Charlton, Brandon Winters, Vanessa McLeod, Kari Shoolbraid, Andre’ Peart, Dani Bunch, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, Nikki Nunn and Cierra Brown. Each has at least time or mark in the top five in program history, including three outdoor program records.
The throwing events will get things started on Saturday morning. The men’s hammer throw and women’s shot put are scheduled for 10 a.m. ET at Cardinal Park. Enekwechi, the Nigerian national record holder and Purdue’s third-best in the hammer, will compete for Purdue and chase the 67.74m (222-03) program record held by Chris Brown. Bunch will be in the women’s shot put and already holds the school record with a mark of 17.13m (56-2.50).
The track events are scheduled to commence at noon with the men’s 110m hurdles prelims. Winters has the fourth-fastest time in the event in program history. He ran a time of 13.69 seconds at the NCAA Easter Prelims last year. A full schedule of events can be found at the top of the page.
