WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - This weekend's Mike Poehlein Invitational has been cancelled due to inclement weather and facility conditions, the program announced on Tuesday. Winter storm Virgil dropped nearly nine inches of snow of the Rankin Outdoor Track and Field on Sunday evening.

"Our facilities are really challenged right now," head coach Lonnie Greene said. "There was no way we could have everything ready and in the excellent condition we need it by Friday and Saturday. The track surfaces and the field conditions are not where they need to be. We are worried about doing damage to the track and field surfaces. We also don't want to put the athletes in any kind of dangerous situation because of the track conditions."

The meet will not be rescheduled. The Boilermakers' next scheduled meet is the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. That meet will run from April 11-13.
