WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue track and field teams have one last chance to try to qualify for nationals this weekend. Two women will travel to the Wisconsin NCAA Qualifier and eight men will travel to the Alex Wilson Invitational in hopes of making the NCAAs.
Dani Bunch and Terri Anderson will head Madison, Wisc., on Friday. Bunch was recently named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Championships for her gold medal in the weight throw and silver in the shot put. In the weight throw, she threw a mark of 20.93m (68-08.00). That mark currently sits as the nation's 10th best and is just seven centimeters below the NCAA qualifying mark. Anderson has a season best mark of 15.57m (51-01.00). That distance is currently No. 44 in the nation. Bunch and Anderson are scheduled to compete in the shot put.
On Saturday, the men will compete in South Bend, Ind. Ishmael Aristide and Akeem Hunt will compete in the 60m dash while Raheem Mostert and Mario Cosey will run the 200m dash. Winters finished fifth at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 7.97 seconds in the finals. Geoff Davis is the final Boilermaker scheduled to compete.
