WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue track and field teams wrap up the home schedule with one final meet before heading to the Big Ten Championships next week. Purdue will host the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday inside Lambert Fieldhouse starting at 11 a.m. ET.

Nine teams will join the Boilermakers on Saturday for the meet. Goshen, Illinois State, Indianapolis, IPFW, and IUPUI will compete as well as Marian, Millikin, Valparaiso, and Western Kentucky. The meet will being with the women's weight throw, pole vault, and long jump. All three events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Dani Bunch will lead the women's weight throw group with Emily Leckenby, Breann Fife, and Liberty Slinden also representing the Old Gold and Black. Kendria Kelly-Taylor is the lone Boilermaker that will compete in the women's long jump. Katie Vierk, Elizabeth Stover, Amanda Downey, and Alex Metzger are all listed to contend in the pole vault.

In the shot put, Bunch and Terri Anderson will compete as well Slinden. A number of Purdue women will compete in the mile run. Maria Paolillo, Stephanie Bonk, and Autumn Beachy are among those representing the Old Gold and Black. Kara Conflenti will run the 3000m.


 

 

On the men's side, Connor McCulley will represent the Boilermakers in the weight throw. Gary Bush and Akeem Hunt have a chance to improve their long jump bests before heading into the Big Ten Championships. Bush has the longer of the two and is top 10 in the country among football players with a jump of 7.22m (23-08.25). Zack Saunders and Kyle Campbell are scheduled to compete in the pole vault.

In the shot put, Jakob Engel will compete against some very tough competition. Illinois State boasts a strong throws group led by Curtis Jensen. Jensen is among five Redbirds competing in the top flight. Geoff Davis and Derrick Spight will go in the high jump. Davis has been improving as the season progresses and will try to take advantage of this final home indoor opportunity of the season.

The Boilermakers send a strong hurdle team to the track. Shane Mikesky and Mike Willey will run in the second heat while Brandon Winters will run in the first. Mikesky and Winters will also run in the 60m dash with Hunt and several other Boilermakers.
