Feb. 4, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The USTFCCCA released its second regular-season Division I National Team Computer Rankings on Tuesday and the Purdue women remained at No. 14,  their highest ranking in program history. The ranking is the program’s best rank since the polls debuted in 2008, and is the highest for a team in the Big Ten this week.

The women were ranked No. 17 in the country in the preseason poll before jumping to 14th last week. The Boilermakers are one of three Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25. Michigan is the second highest-ranked team from the conference, as the Wolverines are ranked No. 18. Penn State jumped into the top 25 for the first time this season at No. 20.

On the men’s side, the Boilermakers jumped one spot up to No. 31 nationally. Five teams from the Big Ten are in the top 25, led by No. 5 Wisconsin. The men’s No. 31 ranking tops the program’s previous best from the last two weeks as the best spot in the weekly polls since the week one poll of 2008 when they were ranked 25th. The men did finish 18th last season at the NCAA Championships.

-Enekwechi took down seven-time US Weight Throw Champion and former Division II National Champion A.G. Kruger last weekend at the Findlay Elite Invite. Enekwechi threw 23.62m (77-06.00), which is the best in the world this year.
-Enekwechi had four throws at the meet that were farther than any other collegians best throw this year. His PR, a Purdue school record, leads the second-best thrower in the country by nearly three feet.
