WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker men's and women's track teams hit the road this weekend for a triangular meet with Ohio State and Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., on Saturday.

"This meet will give us a good looksee at where we stand against Big Ten competition," head coach Jack Warner said. "It will be fun to see how our team responds to it. We will look to be as competitive as we can, but it is still early. This meet will allow us to test the waters and challenge our team a little more than we did last weekend."

The women's team will face off with the Hoosiers and Buckeyes after taking 13 event titles at its own Purdue Invitational last weekend. Junior Astin Steward looks to improve on her provisional qualifying mark in the weight throw, while competing against OSU's Keturah Lofton, who ranks seventh nationally in the event.

"Our women should be pretty competitive," Warner said. "It should be a pretty balanced meet for us and we should do well in the scoring."

On the men's side, the Boilermakers will take on TrackWire.com's No. 13 team in the nation, the Indiana Hoosiers. The IU squad features six athletes ranked among the nation's top 10 in five events, including the top miler in the country in Sean Jefferson. OSU athletes rank among the top 12 in the 5,000 meter run and the high jump. Purdue's Rickey Pinkney ranks 10th in the 60-meter hurdles after posting a provisional qualifying mark in the event last weekend.

"On the men's side we are short in some areas, so we hope to see strong performances out of the areas in which we have strong athletes," Warner said. "We look to continue developing in our throwing events, while also getting our distance runners going."

The meet in Bloomington is slated to begin at 11:15 a.m. in Gladstein Fieldhouse.
