WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Track and Field News released its initial 2014 Collegiate Dual Meet Rankings on Monday afternoon and both Purdue teams found their way into the top 10. The Purdue women are ranked eighth, while the men are No. 10.

The rankings were released on Monday afternoon at DailyRelay.com, and only 10 teams appear in the rankings for each gender. The ranking is determined by wins, losses, strength of schedule and strength of recorded marks. As of the 2013-14 season, all meets with four or fewer teams are scored.

The Purdue men’s and women’s team put up 22 top-25 marks in the country at last week’s Gene Edmonds Invite. Those marks plus the overall score from the meet was good enough to earn the men’s and women’s teams a spot in the nation’s top 10.

The women are one of two Big Ten teams ranked in the dual poll. The Boilermakers are two spots ahead of No. 10 Michigan. On the men’s side, Nebraska is also ranked from the Big Ten, as the Huskers come in at No. 5.

The Boilermakers are one of seven teams across the country hosting a dual meet, defined as a scored meet with four or fewer teams, this weekend. Purdue takes on Indiana in the Purdue/Indiana Dual. The meet is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. ET inside Lambert Fieldhouse.
