EUGENE, Ore. - Caleb Fricke was the lone Boilermaker to compete on Friday at the NCAA Championships. The sophomore was the final thrower in the men’s discus.

Fricke opened with a mark of 53.95m (177-00) which put him in 19th to start. His second throw wasn’t quite as good as his first, a mark of 53.46m (175-05) and he fell back to 21st. On his third attempt, Fricke went all out, trying to hit 60m (196-10) with hopes of making finals, but came up short and fouled his attempt. Fricke finished 21st in the country, good for Honorable Mention All-America honors.

The men wrapped up the championships, but were unable to score. Dani Bunch is the lone Boilermaker to compete on Saturday and she is in the women’s shot put. She is scheduled to compete at 1 p.m. PT, though she is the final thrower in the second flight and won’t likely make her first throw until after 2 p.m.

A full recap of Bunch’s event will be posted to PurdueSports.com at the conclusion of the meet. Live results will be posted on Twitter, @PurdueTrackXC.
