Davis Earns Bronze Medal
Geoff Davis picked up six points for the men's team with a third place finish in the high jump.

EUGENE, Ore. - Geoff Davis wrapped up his Purdue career in grand fashion on Friday evening. The senior took the bronze medal in the high jump at the NCAA Championships.

Davis started at 2.05m (6-08.75) and cleared it with ease on his first attempt. The Indianapolis native then cleared his next three bars on first attempt until he had cleared 2.20m (7-02.50) and was tied for first with two others. His next bar was his personal record and the school's second-best mark, 2.24m (7-04.25). Though Davis missed on his first attempt, he cleared it with his second jump which secured his third place finish in the nation and six points for the Purdue men.

Davis finished behind only Derek Drouin of Indiana, who took the gold with a height of 2.34m (7-08). Erik Kynard of Kansas State took silver with a height of 2.31m (7-7). Kynard was the 2012 Olympic high jump silver medalist while Drouin was the bronze medalist at those London Games.

Davis wrapped up an outstanding season at Purdue with a bronze medal at the indoor Big Ten Championships, fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships, an All-America honor, a tied Purdue indoor high jump record, silver medal at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, bronze medal at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, and the second-best mark in Purdue outdoor high jump history.

Dani Bunch will wrap up the championships for the Boilermakers on Saturday with the women's shot put.

Bunch is the No. 18 seed in the championships after she threw 16.13m (52-11) at the regional meet. She has a season-best and school record mark of 17.13m (56-02.50) which won the Big Ten Championship and set the meet record. Bunch is the only Boilermaker that also competed at the championships last season.
