LOS ANGELES - Four Boilermakers competed on the opening day of the Mt. SAC Relays late Thursday night. Katie Hoevet, Dan Porter, and Tyler Wynn competed in the 1,500-meter run while Blair Doney ran in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Hoevet finished 14th in her section of the women’s race. She posted a time of 4:32.95 which is 7.85 seconds off her season-best in the event. Porter finished 10th in the second section of the men’s race. He crossed the finish line in 3:49.46. That is 1.25 seconds behind his best time of the year which he ran at the Tiger Track Classic earlier this month. Wynn took 14th in the first section of the race. He finished in 3:51.30 which is 3.51 seconds off his career best which he ran earlier this year.

Doney finished the 3,000m steeplechase in 10:52.24 which was good for 15th place. That time is 11.66 seconds behind the top mark of her career which she ran earlier this season.

Three Boilermakers will compete on Friday in Los Angeles. Kevin Griffith will be first as he competes in the 800m run at 2:30 p.m. PT. Kelly McCurdy will run at 8 p.m. in the women’s 5k while Matthew McClintock will run at 9:30 p.m. in the same event on the men’s side. Purdue also opens its home Dave Rankin Invite on Friday afternoon.
