BEFORE PURDUE
Attended the U.S. Naval Academy as a freshman, where he took third place in the 500-meter run and ran on the third-place distance medley relay at the 2008 Patriot League Championships.

HIGH SCHOOL
Earned a pair of varsity track and field letters at Plymouth High School; two-time Indiana State High School Championship qualifier in the 800-meter run, placing fifth as a senior, good for all-state honors; also ran on the 9th-place 4x400-meter relay squad at the state championships; three-time all-state honoree in tennis and played on the 2007 Indiana State 3A Championship team.
