2012:At the Purdue Invitational (1/7), took first place by jumping 16-10.75 in the pole vault. Competed at the Big Ten Indoor Championships (2/25) and placed 6th. Jumped a season high 16-00.75 during the outdoor season at the Jesse Owens Track Classic (4/13-4/14) and took fifth. Placed fourth at the Purdue Open (4/27-4/28).
Competed in six indoor meets; recorded best jump and provisionally qualified for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships in pole vault at the Boilermaker Invitational (2/20) with a mark of 5.20m/17-00.75; redshirted the outdoor season.
Two-year varsity letterwinner at Marian Catholic High School; won back-to-back Illinois State High School Class AA Championships in the pole vault; qualified for the U.S. Junior National Championships in 2008 and 2009, taking fifth place in 2009; cleared a career-best and set a conference record with a mark of 5.13 meters (16-10.00).
Mitchell William Erickson was born May 2, 1990, in Steger, Ill.; is the son of Brian and Lynn Erickson; has one brother, Matt, and one sister, Kaitlyn; intends to major in construction management.
