WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Ninety Purdue spring sport student-athletes were named Academic All-Big Ten by the conference today.
Women's track & field led the Boilermaker contingent with 27 honorees, while the men's track & field team had 17 student-athletes earn the distinction. Baseball was next with 14 recipients, followed by softball (10), men's golf (9), women's tennis (5), and women's golf and men's tennis (4 apiece).
Combined with 71 fall sport student-athletes and 47 from the winter, a total of 208 Boilermakers achieved Academic All-Big Ten distinction in 2014-15. That total is an increase of 22 from last year and 56 from 2012-13.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
