56 Boilermakers Named Academic-All B1G
March 23, 2016

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –- Fifty-six Purdue winter sport student-athletes were named Academic All-Big Ten by the conference today.

Women's swimming and diving led the Boilermaker contingent with 20 honorees, while the men’s team had 18 student-athletes earn the distinction. Wrestling was next with 10 recipients while both the men’s and women’s basketball teams had four members honored.

The 56 student-athletes named were nine more than on last winter’s Academic All-Big Ten team (47) and combined with 68 fall sport student-athletes, a total of 124 Boilermakers have achieved Academic All-Big Ten distinction this year. The total is an increase of four student-athletes from this time a year ago.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
