Equipment Room

Purdue uses two equipment rooms that cover approximately 8,000 square feet to provide gear to more than 500 Boilermaker athletes and cheerleaders. The main equipment room, located in Mackey Arena, is used by 17 of the 18 Purdue intercollegiate athletics teams and the spirit squad. Football employs its own equipment room, located in the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility. The football equipment room is directly connected to the football locker room.

The equipment rooms are staffed by six full-time employees, in addition to a handful of undergraduate work-study students. Also under the management of the equipment room staff are the student managers for all intercollegiate sports. The equipment room staff is directly responsible for hiring and overseeing all football managers.

The equipment room is responsible for ordering clothing, shoes and other equipment for all Purdue student-athletes and coaches. The football, men's basketball and women's basketball teams are fully outfitted by Nike. The women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and volleyball teams all wear Nike uniforms.

In addition to ordering apparel, the equipment room staff is responsible for dispensing yearly gifts to all Purdue student-athletes. The first-year gift is a letter jacket, the second-year gift is a blanket, the third-year gift is a watch, and the fourth-year gift is a senior ring.
