Rob Van Valkenburgh was hired as a sports performance assistant in January of 2012. He will work with the men's and women's golf teams, the cross country team and the long sprinters on the track and field team.
Prior to arriving at Purdue, Van Valkenburgh spent two years as the Sports Performance Director at SportXcel in Denver. There he oversaw all aspects of the training department and daily operation of the fitness facility. He developed training programs with an emphasis on corrective, functional and sport-specific exercises.
From 2008-2010, Van Valkenburgh served as the Director of NFL Combine and Off-Season Preparation at EFT Sports Performance in Chicago. Designing and implementing exercise programs for professional, collegiate and high school athletes, he worked to improve strength, speed, flexibility and endurance for their individual sports.
He has also served as an intern at Athletes' Performance in Los Angeles and at the University of Colorado. He earned his bachelor's degree in sport and exercise science from the University of Northern Colorado in 2008.
