WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue athletics is excited to announce the winter relaunch of Boilermaker Social Rewards, starting a new competition for prizes associated with Boilermaker teams and events for the next three months. First prize will be the opportunity to throw out an opening pitch at Purdue baseball's brand-new Alexander Field this spring, use of one of the press box suites and an iPad Mini.
Purdue concluded the first round of competition at the beginning of November, awarding prizes to the top three finishers in the competition. The grand prize went to Matt Newkirk, who claimed a pair of tickets to the nine Big Ten Conference home games for Purdue men's basketball, in addition to a new iPad, while second prize of four Shively Club Suite tickets to the Purdue vs. Indiana football game went to Ben Ruoff. Ruoff was unable to attend the game and generously regifted the prize in a random drawing of the top finishers in Boilermaker Social Rewards.
"The social reward program has been great," said Ruoff. "I won a game day experience through Purdue, and tickets to the Big Ten championship game through BTN. I really enjoy being able to follow all Purdue sports on the social networks. It has got me following Purdue sports that I have never followed before, and getting rewarded for it is awesome!"
Ruoff was the winner of one of two mini-competitions during the first round of social rewards, earning a media gameday experience to the Purdue vs. Marshall football game on Sept. 29. Susan Gajderowicz was the final winner from the first round of competition, placing third and earning an autographed basketball, signed by Purdue men's basketball head coach Matt Painter.
In addition to the grand prize for the winter competition, second place will win a pair of chair-back season tickets to Purdue baseball this spring, while third place will take home an autographed ball from the Purdue head coach of their choosing.
