Purdue director of intercollegiate athletics Morgan Burke has announced the hiring of Mike Braughton as director of the John Purdue Club. Braughton, who started Monday, reports to senior associate athletics director Joe Muller.
"Mike is the perfect fit for the John Purdue Club, which is such a critical part of Purdue Athletics," Muller said. "He brings a unique blend of experience and skill in growing annual fund revenues, developing membership campaigns and creating high-end, user-friendly, technology-driven marketing platforms. He will compliment an already outstanding team of professionals, giving us a great opportunity to positively influence Purdue Athletics for years to come."
Braughton comes to the Boilermakers from Oklahoma State University, where he served as director of development since 2004. He administered all annual fund operations, including membership recruitment, donor communications, marketing, stewardship, donor seating programs, lettermen's club, special events, and donor allocations for seating and parking. Annual fund revenues increased 33 percent during his tenure.

From 2000 to 2004, Braughton served as executive director of the Tulsa (Okla.) Sports Commission, a non-profit arm of the Tulsa Metro Chamber, affiliated through the Tulsa Convention & Visitors' Bureau. During his tenure, he secured more than $60 million in estimated economic impact through related sports tourism for the Tulsa community.
Braughton served as director of group sales/game operations for the Tulsa Oilers (Central Hockey League) and the Tulsa Talons (arenafootball2) in 1999 and 2000. His other experience includes working with the United States Olympic Committee during the summers of 1997, 2001 and 2003, working in the International Games Preparation Division, which included travel logistics, games accreditation for United States delegations participating in international games.
He also has over six years of media relations experience as an intern ranging from 1993 to 1999 with the New Orleans Saints, United States Olympic Committee and the Louisiana Tech University sports information department.
Braughton earned his B.A. in speech communications from Louisiana Tech in 1998. His wife's name is Paige.
