WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Starting this week and lasting throughout the school year, fans can bid on and buy a bevy of Boilermaker items and unique experiences through an online auction at this link.

Over the course of the year, this auction will include everything from game-worn football jerseys to autographed items to one-of-a-kind relics and treasures from the Intercollegiate Athletics archives.

A different item will be put up for auction each Monday through April of 2005. The first item available this season is a full-sized San Diego Chargers helmet signed by former Purdue star quarterback Drew Brees. This item is currently available for bidding.

Other items to be auctioned over the course of the year include: the opportunity to sit in the radio broadcast booth during a Purdue football game; men's basketball championship placards removed from Mackey Arena; women's basketball and volleyball championship banners taken from Mackey and the Intercollegiate Athletics Facility; and a banner signed by former Boilermakers who are members of the Football Hall of Fame.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the John Purdue Club scholarship fund. The auction is part of a nationwide program with College Sports Online, which partners with Purdue and nearly 160 university athletics departments and conferences to manage and maintain official Web sites.

Under NCAA regulations, students in grades 9 through 12 are not eligible to bid on and buy these items.
