Purdue Announces Plans for Keady Roast and Legends Weekend

May 5, 1998

Purdue's all-time winningest basketball coach, Gene Keady, will be honored for his most recent accomplishment on June 12 with a "Roast" at the Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms.

Keady, who recorded his 372nd victory last December surpassing legendary coach Ward "Piggy" Lambert, will be the guest of honor, along with his wife Pat, for what promises to be an entertaining evening. Former Michigan State Coach Jud Heathcote, one of Keady's closest friends in their profession, will serve as Master of Ceremonies and roasters will include colleagues from throughout Keady's career.

The Keady Roast, which will have a limited seating capacity of 800 people, will be part of a Legends Weekend at Purdue. Also scheduled are a golf tournament on the afternoon of June 12 and a Legends Basketball Game, featuring every former Boilermaker player who wishes to take the floor of Mackey Arena, on the afternoon of June 13.
