WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Fifty-eight Purdue student athletes received Academic All-Big Ten acclaim when the conference announced its winter honorees on Wednesday.

Twenty-seven women's swimmers and divers, 15 men's swimmers and divers, seven wrestlers, five men's basketball players and four women's basketball players made up the group.

Women's basketball player Chelsea Jones and women's swimmers Lauren Gustafson and Katie Hingst, were among six student-athletes recognized for carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Junior guard Brittany Rayburn and redshirt junior Drey Mingo garnered CoSIDA Academic All-District V accolades earlier this year. Rayburn was a first team selection, while Mingo garnered second team acclaim.

Men's and women's swimming and diving and wrestling are part of the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America program's at-large group, which is selected in the spring.

Swimmer Allie Smith was selected as the female recipient of the Big Ten Conference's Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award in March.

Among the Boilermakers recognized were several student-athletes that excelled in their particular sport as well as in the classroom.

Senior guard E'Twaun Moore was an Honorable Mention AP All-American, a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS award and a first team All-Big Ten selection.

Rayburn garnered third team All-Big Ten acclaim from the conference coaches and media, while Mingo earned third team honors from the coaches and honorable mention acclaim from the media.

Of the seven wrestlers who received Academic All-Big Ten honors, four were NCAA Championship qualifiers - Logan Brown, Camden Eppert, A.J. Kissel and Luke Manuel - and one, Manuel, was just one win shy of All-America honors.

The group of women's swimming and diving honorees includes six NCAA qualifiers, four honorable mention All-Americans and two second team All-Big Ten selections. Kara Cook, Caitlin Hamilton, Ariel Martin, Lauren Nichols, Smith and Gustafson made the NCAAs.
