Ebikwo Elected SAAC President
March 19, 2017

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Track & field junior Joshua Ebikwo has been elected president of the Boiler Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2017-18 school year.

The Boiler Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which consists of student-athlete leaders from all sports, is the Purdue Athletics student-athlete advisory committee. The focus of the group is leadership and production - in the classroom, on their teams and in the community. The group also serves as a conduit between student-athletes and department administrators.

“It really is a huge honor because SAAC as an organization has limitless potential to create benefit and value for student-athletes at Purdue University,” Ebikwo said. “Being a pivotal part of that process is something that I’m really proud of, and I can’t wait to get started."

In addition to Ebikwo, the following four student-athletes were elected to the BAC leadership team:

Vice President: Ashley Evans (volleyball)
Secretary: Joe Gardner (swimming)
Director Communications: Erika Yohn (soccer)
Compliance Liaison: Abby Abel (basketball)

“I’m especially looking forward to working with my fellow SAAC members to figure out what issues student-athletes at Purdue feel are important,” Ebikwo said. “I look forward to solving some of the problems and working towards making the student-athlete experience better for everyone.”

The executive board meets weekly and works closely with athletics director Mike Bobinski and leadership advisor Cathy Wright-Eger.
