Senior guard Ryne Smith earned some national acclaim on Saturday when Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com placed him 17th on his list of the top 50 shooters in the country.

Smith ranked fifth in the Big Ten a year ago with a mark of .441 from the arc, bringing his career percentage to .385. He was the highest-ranking Big Ten player on Goodman's list.

The Toledo, Ohio, native needs 31 triples to tie Glenn Robinson and Chris Lutz for 14th on the program's career chart.

Of Smith's 97-career field goals, 80 (82.5 percent) have come from long distance.
